Czech tennis player Kateřina Siniaková has advanced to the quarterfinals
of the China Open in Beijing after defeating Kiki Bertens of the
Netherlands 6-4, 6-3.
Her victory has also secured a place for her compatriot Petra Kvitová at the WTA finals. Siniaková will next face the winner of the match between Anett Kontaveit or WTA World No.2 Caroline Wozniacki.
Czech tennis player Karolína Plíšková has advanced to the third round
of the Beijing Open for the third consecutive year with a 6-3, 6-4 win over
Aliaksandra Sasnovich of Belarus.
The seventh-seeded Plíšková, who trailed 2-0 in the second set before winning four games in a row, will next play local wild-card entry Wang Qiang of China.
Czech tennis player Petra Kvitová has failed to reach the fourth round of
the women’s singles at the Wuhan Open in China. The two-time champion
lost with Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova of Russia 6-3, 3-6, 3-6.
The only Czech to remain in the singles is Markéta Vondroušová, who is set to take on Garbine Muguruza of Spain in the third round.
Karolína Plíšková stunned Japanese sensation Naomi Osaka in straights
sets to capture the Pan Pacific Open on Sunday. The fourth seed took just
63 minutes to complete a 6-4, 6-4 victory over the newly crowned US Open
champion in Tokyo.
“My serve is my strongest point and today I used it to best advantage” Plíšková said after capturing her 11th career WTA title.
No.4 seed Karolína Plíšková has reached the final at the Toray Pan
Pacific Open in Tokyo after beating Donna Vekic 6-2, 4-6, 6-3 in a
gruelling match that lasted 2 hours and five minutes.
“I don’t think my serve was great,” Plíšková said. “I was getting tired from the match, so I was not as fast as I wanted to be. But I won and that’s what counts.”
Plíšková will now take on US Open champion Naomi Osaka as she seeks her second title of the season.
