Petra Kvitová has won her fifth tennis title of the season. The Czech
player came from behind to defeat Magdaléna Rybáriková of Slovakia 4-6
6-1 6-2 on Sunday to lift the title at the Birmingham Classic in the UK.
Kvitová did not drop a set on her route to the final in Birmingham, where
she also took last year’s trophy.
The two-time Wimbledon winner suffered a terrible hand injury when she was stabbed in late 2016 but has made an impressive recovery and is now ranked eighth in the world.

Mattek-Sands have announced a comeback after a one-year pause caused by
Mattek-Sands knee injury. Šafářová announced on Saturday that she will
pair up with her US partner at Wimbledon, which gets underway in July.
The pair last played together at the French Open in 2017, picking up their fifth Grand Slam title. Mattek-Sands subsequently suffered a serious knee injury during her second-round singles match at Wimbledon, which kept her out of action for almost a year.
Czech tennis player Tomáš Berdych has reached the quarter-finals at Germany’s Stuttgart Open tournament. The 32-year-old Czech, who was seeded third, defeated Benoit Paire of France 7-6 and 6-4 and marked his first win in an ATP tournament since March. He fill face Canadian Milos Raonic in the next round.

Plíšková lost to 1-6 2-6 to Maria Sharapova of Russia, while Kvitová was beaten 7-6 7-6 in Paris by Anett Kontaveit of Estonia, bringing her run of 13 consecutive wins on clay to an end.
