Andrea Hlavackova and Timea Babos won the WTA doubles title in Singapore for the first time after a brilliant three-set win over Kiki Bertens and Johanna Larsson. The Czech-Hungarian duo beat unseeded Kiki Bertens and Johanna Larsson 4-6, 6-4, 10-5. It is the pair's fifth trophy of the year; they teamed up for the first time in May.
In tennis, Czech women’s number one Karolína Plíšková has failed to
make it into the final of the end of season WTA Finals.
She lost in straight sets to Carolina Wozniacki 6:7, 3:6 in the semi-final.
The loss means Plíšková cannot regain the number one spot in the WTA rankings she held earlier this year. Plíšková could have ended the year in top spot if she triumphed in the Singapore tournament.
The result means Romanian Simona Halep will gain the top spot.
In tennis, Czech player Karolína Plíšková has suffered her first defeat in the end of season WTA Finals tournament being staged in Singapore. The top Czech women’s singles player was defeated by Latvia’s Jelena Ostapenko 3:6, 1:6. After winning her first two matches in the opening group, Plíšková had already secured her place in the next round.

This year Plíšková became world number one for the first time and currently stands at third in the rankings.
Czech tennis player Barbora Strýcová has won a second WTA singles title in her career. In the final round of WTA event in Linz on Sunday, the Czech No.2 seed defeated Magdalena Rybáriková of Slovakia, 6-4, 6-1. The 31-year-old Czech last claimed a WTA title in 2011, when she won at the WTA Bell Challenge Tournament in Quebec City.
Czech tennis player Barbora Strýcová has advanced to the final round of WTA event in Linz. In Saturday’s match, the 31-year-old Czech beat Romania’s Mihaela Buzarnescu 6-3, 7-6 In the final round, Strýcová will face the winner of the match between Slovakia’s Magdaléna Rybáriková or Viktorija Golubic of Switzerland.

The multiple-Grand Slam doubles winner will coach Plíšková at the World Tour Finals in Singapore. The former World No. 1 unexpectedly split with her coach David Kotyza after losing her top WTA singles ranking to Garbine Muguruza in September.
Under Kotyza, she won three titles in Brisbane, Doha and Eastbourne and reached the French open semi-finals and quarterfinals of the US Open.
