The talented youngster, he’s 21, jumped from his previous 114 place on the ATP ladder to 99 thanks to winning the Prague Challenge tournament. Top Czech tennis player Tomáš Berdych remains in an unchanged eighth position in the rankings.
Czech tennis player Karolína Plíšková has clinched her first title of the season. after beating Alison Riske of the United States 7:6, 7:5 in the final of the WTA tournament in Nottingham on Sunday. Another Czech, Andrea Hlaváčková, won the women’s doubles at the same tournament. Along with her partner, Shuai Peng of China they defeated the Canadian-Chinese pairing of Gabriela Dabrowski and Zhaoxuan Yang 7:5, 3:6,10:7.
British tennis player Andy Murray has reunited with his former coach, Czech-born tennis legend Ivan Lendl. The World No. 2 has confirmed that they will start work together again from Monday. Murray worked with Lendl for two years, from 2012 to 2014, and during that time won Wimbledon, the US Open and the Olympic gold medal. Since Lendl's departure, Murray has lost three Grand Slam finals.
Czech tennis player Karolína Plíšková has claimed her spot in the women's final of the WTA tournament in Nottingham, after beating no.4 seed Monica Puig of Puerto Rico 6:2, 6:2 in just 54 minutes. The top-seeded Czech will play for her fifth WTA title on Sunday, facing Alison Riske of the United States. She is also scheduled to play the doubles semifinal with her sister Kristýna.
Top Czech men’s single hope Tomáš Berdych has won his way through to the quarterfinals of the French Open for the third time in his career. He beat 11th seed Spaniard David Ferrer in straight sets 6:3, 7:5, 6:3.. The match started Monday was delayed due to rain for completion on Wednesday. Berdych will face world number one Novak Djokovic in the next round.

They beat fellow Czechs and sixth seeds Andrea Hlaváčková and Lucie Hradecká 6:3, 7:6. The young couple, both aged 20, earlier knocked out the top seeds in the doubles tournament. Krejčiková and Siniaková won three grand slam doubles tournaments when they played as juniors.
