Slavia Prague have returned to the top of the Czech soccer league. They
overcame city rivals Dukla 4:1 on Monday evening to again move two points
in front of reigning champions Viktoria Plzeň and bring the 13th round of
the season to an end.
Two of Slavia’s goals came from midfielder Miroslav Stoch. The result leaves Slavia seven points ahead of rivals Sparta Prague ahead of a derby clash between the two next weekend.
The Czech Republic’s footballers were beaten 1:0 away by Ukraine on
Tuesday night. Though losing their second game under new coach Jaroslav
Šilhavý, the Czechs won plaudits for their style of play.
The result means Ukraine have won group B1 and the Czechs are now competing with Slovakia to avoid relegation to a lower level of the Nations League; a draw against the Slovaks in Prague next month would secure their place and offer the possibility of a place at Euro 2020.

The 16-year-old player from Hradec Králové made his debut for the Czech Under-17s when he was 15. He is playing in the Czech Under-19 league and scored 11 goals last season.
According to the Guardian, Firbacher is the most talented centre-forward in the Czech Republic and is reportedly eyed by the Southampton scouts.
Viktoria Plzeň were beaten 5:0 away by Roma in the Champions League group
stage on Tuesday evening. The hosts’ striker Edin Dzeko, who played for
Teplice earlier in his career, scored a hat trick in the one-sided
That result leaves Plzeň with one point after two games. On the previous match day the West Bohemians drew at home with CSKA Moscow, who now top the group after a surprise win over Real Madrid.
