These days one of the country’s best-known pop singers, Iveta Bartošová, is probably better known for difficulties in her personal life, including her failed marriage to former film producer Jiří Pomeje (the subject of countless tabloid articles) than for her success as a performer. But there was a time when the Czechoslovak music scene lay at her feet and unlike many performers who appear and disappear after short stints these days she had true singing talent.
