The young Czech motorcyclist Lukas Pesek has notched up another great result, taking second place in the 125cc category at the French Grand Prix in Le Mans. That means Pesek, who is 21, has reached the podium in four out of five races so far this season; Sunday's result extends his lead in the GP world championship standings to nine points.
It is just seven weeks since the Czech racing driver Tomas Enge underwent a complicated operation on his elbow, after a crash in which he also punctured his lung and broke two ribs. But, incredibly, Enge is not just back behind the wheel - he actually won his first race back, the GT2 category in the American Le Mans series at Salt Lake City. Now the 30-year-old from Liberec says his sights are firmly fixed on the legendary Le Mans 24 Hours race, which is taking place in France for the 75th time in the middle of June.
Petr Cech has been celebrating winning his first English FA Cup with Chelsea. He made a couple of fine saves during the Blues' 1:0 win over Manchester United, with the game taking place the day before the great goalie's 25th birthday. Cech said it had been a special end to a difficult season; he has also been presented with an award by Chelsea for the great comeback he made after a serious head injury.
Former Czech international goalkeeper Pavel Srnicek has been released by Newcastle. The 39-year-old said he would consider playing in one of the lower divisions in England, but only for a club with real ambitions.
Meanwhile, Pavel Nedved says he does not know if he will continue playing, after his Juventus qualified for Italy's Serie A after one season in the lower tier. The midfielder said he feels he has paid his debt to Juve after standing by them and helping the club win promotion.
The Czech tennis player Radek Stepanek has fallen out of the world top 50 after being knocked out in the first round at the Hamburg Masters, a competition he reached the final of last year. Stepanek is now 57th in the world. The top ranked Czech man remains Tomas Berdych, who is 20th.
