Wages on the World Cup football championship recorded by Czech betting agencies reached a record-breaking CZK2.5bn (€97mn), surpassing the amount bet on EURO 2016 matches by CZK600mn.
Czech bookmakers lost money on the final France-Croatia match but were otherwise well in the black. The agencies Tipsport and Fortuna accounted for a roughly equal share of 92% of all accepted bets.
