Civic Democrats increasingly isolated over Czech Television

As the crisis within Czech Television continues, the main opposition Civic Democratic Party, or ODS, led by former prime minister Vaclav Klaus, stands alone in its support for the new director of Czech Television, Jiri Hodac.

In a recent parliamentary debate, only one of the party's MPs, Jiri Payne, broke ranks and voted in favour of the resolution calling for Mr Hodac's removal. Mr Payne is something of a rebel, and has voted against his own party several times in the lower house in the past.
