The Czech Republic has some of the happiest employees in the world, according to a survey released by the Swedish firm Universum. The country ranks 10th on the chart of work satisfaction in 57 states the world over.
The annual survey by the Swedish firm Universum monitored the feelings of 250, 000 employees in 57 countries, focussing on three segments: people’s satisfaction in their current job, the probability that they would recommend their employer to others, and loyalty, i.e. whether the employee wants to change his/her job in the near future. Employees in Denmark rated top in terms of work satisfaction, followed by Norway and Costa Rica. The Czech Republic placed 10th, ahead of countries such as Germany, Switzerland, France and the US.
Although Czech employees currently have incomparably lower salaries than those in neighbouring Germany, job security is high and with a 5 percent unemployment rate – the lowest in the EU –many employers are offering perks and various benefits, such as longer paid leave, to potential employees. According to a poll conducted by the TNS Aisa agency 65 percent of Czech employees feel totally secure in their present position, 27 feel quite secure. 82 percent of respondents expressed overall satisfaction with their employer, 74 percent expressed satisfaction with their employers work attitude and leadership qualities.
Seventy percent of respondents said they had been given a raise in the last three years and 44 percent of those polled said their purchasing power had grown irrespective of whether they had received a raise or not. The average monthly wage in the Czech Republic is 27,220 crowns although only a third of employees achieve that salary level. As of 2017 the minimal income per month is to be raised by 1,100 crowns to 11,000 crowns.
