Czech javelin thrower Barbora Špotáková has parted company with her
long-term coach Rudolf Černý. The world record holder, who is 38, will be
trained by Jan Tylče for her last ever Olympic Games in Tokyo later this
Špotáková was trained by Černý for most of her career to date, though between 2010 and 2014 she was coached by men’s javelin legend Jan Železný and in 2015 prepared alone.
Medals for Ogrodníková, Drahotová and Vrabcová Nývltová at the European Athletics Championships in Berlin, including historic result for latter in marathon; top three in soccer league make it maximum 12 points in four outings; and Slavia with work to do against Dynamo Kyiv in Champions League playoffs.
The Czech Republic’s Nikola Ogrodníková came second in the women’s
javelin at the World Athletics Championships in Berlin on Friday night,
securing a first medal for the Czech team.
Ogrodníková, who is 27, was beaten by Christin Hussong of Germany; her
best throw 67.90 meters was six centimeters longer than the Czech’s.
Anežka Drahotová secured another silver for the Czech team in the 20-kilometer speedwalking race on Saturday, finishing 30 seconds behind María Pérez of Spain.

Double Olympic javelin gold and two times world champion, Czech Barbora
Špotáková has announced she is expecting a second child and will take a
break from competition.
Špotáková, 36, says her second child is expected in the summer and she is likely to return to training in the autumn. She said she wants to continue and has already proved that parenthood and sport can be combined.
Špotáková says her mid-term goal is to take part in the 2020 Olympics being hosted by Tokyo. She won javelin Olympic golds in Beijing in 2008 and four years later in London. She took the bronze medal in the last Rio games.
