A family firm from the Czech Republic will provide nearly 10,000 hockey
pucks to the Winter Olympic Games in South Korea. The company GUFEX,
located in Kateřinice in north Moravia, began producing pucks in 1994.
Since then, they have been used at all significant tournaments of the International Ice Hockey Federation, Winter Olympic Games, World Championship and other international tournaments. The company currently produces around 1.2 million pucks a year.

Czech star forward Jaromír Jágr scored his first goal with the Calgary
Flames on Thursday against the Detroit Red Wings and also assisted on Mark
Janowski's first NHL goal. Jágr, 45, described first goals for any

Czech hockey forward Jaromír Jágr returned to the line-up on Tuesday
night for the Calgary Flames, but did not get on the scoreboard. He had
been recovering from a minor lower-body injury. The forward played a total
of 13 minutes. The Flames were even 3:3 against the Vancouver Canucks, but
the match slipped away in 38 seconds when the Canucks got back-to-back
goals in the third period.
Montreal Canadiens’ forward Tomáš Plekanec got an assist on the opening goal of the night for the Habs against newcomers the Vegas Golden Knights on their first ever visit to Montreal’s Bell Centre.
The Habs edged Vegas by a score of 3:2, their third straight win.
Czech veteran forward Jaromír Jágr did not play in the Calgary Flames 2-1 win over the Washington Capitals on Sunday although he did skate with the team in practice and Flames’ coach Glen Gulutzan describer the player’s status as day-to-day. The Flames’ next match is against Pittsburgh on Thursday this week.
