Country cottage mania

Ask a few Czechs where they are likely to be spending the end of the year and many will give you the same answer - at their country cottage. The tradition of country cottages stretches back over half a century and today it is hard to find a family which does not own one or have access to one through family and friends. Although sociologists predicted that the fall of communism would bring about a radical change, country cottages remain an important part in people's lives.  More

Game-lovers match wits at Mind Sports Olympiad

Photo: http://deskohrani.cz For five years now the Tyrsuv Dum - a magnificent Renaissance Palace in Prague's Lesser Quarter - has been the site for the annual Mind Sports Olympiad allowing game-lovers to match their wits at card and board games of all different kinds. This year school children have had the chance to join the general public to have a go at dozens of titles including the popular Citadels, Backgammon, Valley of the Mammoths, and Go. Play lasts from 9 in the morning until 10 at night.  More
