Sparta Prague ended their Champions League campaign with a home win against Portugal's Porto on Wednesday night. Sparta defeated Porto 2-0 and ended Porto's slim hopes of advancing in the Champions League. Porto needed a win in Prague coupled with a defeat for Panathinaikos against Real Madrid to reach the quarter-finals, but the match ended in a 2-2 draw.

Sparta had already been eliminated and had nothing to lose. Sparta's midfielder Tomas Huebshmann said they wanted to end the Champions League in a positive way. "We lost some close games during this phase and you don't want to lose the last one at home as well," he said. Sparta finished group C in third place on six points ahead of Porto in fourth place on four points.
