Changes in police force not domain of politicians, says PM

Changes in the police force are the domain of the police president and the minister of the interior, Prime Minister Bohuslav Sobotka said on Thursday. The prime minister said such changes were a highly specialised matter that politicians should not become involved in. Following demands from ANO, he has called a special coalition meeting before a cabinet session on Wednesday. ANO says plans to merge the forces’s organised crime and anti-corruption units are political and the party’s minister of justice, Robert Pelikán, has threatened to resign if the merger goes ahead. The head of teh organised crime unit, Robert Šlachta, has asked to be released from the service over the planned change.
