Anti-Monopoly Authority calls on Czech Telecom to introduce new tariff package

The Czech Anti-Monopoly Authority has called on Czech Telecom to introduce at least one tariff package for customers that will not include monthly free calling time. The free minutes are seen as anti-competitive as it is more difficult for alternative operators to attract customers on a call-by-call basis once the market is fully liberalised. The head of the Anti-Monopoly Authority did not rule out administrative proceedings against Czech Telecom unless the company introduces such a new tariff package by July 1. Changes in Czech Telecom's tariff policy effective as of February 1 had been approved by the Czech Telecommunications Office but met with strong criticism from both public and alternative operators.
