Current Affairs Pop Idol Aneta Langerova to host benefit concert for Indonesia

Some of those who have their heart in the right place are musicians on the Czech Pop scene, not least the country's first Pop Idol, Aneta Lanegrova. Aneta, just 19, will lead a gala benefit concert this coming Sunday to raise proceeds for Indonesia, the country worst hit by the tsunami disaster.

"It was an idea that came from the group around Aneta Langerova and especially her, she called a couple friends and began organising it. It's a charity concert to raise some funds for Southeast Asia, Indonesia in particular. We actually had a problem that there were too many bands asking us if they could play. We already have a 4 hour show, so we couldn't include them."

Tell me about some of the acts.

Of course we have seen a great amount of solidarity from Czechs towards victims of this disaster, how much money do you think the benefit will be able to raise?

"Well, the capacity is about 2,500: there will be 2,300 tickets and all the proceeds will go to the Indonesian Embassy. We hope it'll be about half a million crowns. It all depends on the ticket sales; everyone should try and help somehow."

For those interested in attending the concert, it takes place this coming Sunday, January 8th, at the Lucerna Palace just off Wenceslas Square. However, expect tickets to go early.
