This week yet another 1989 anniversary was remembered: the Catholic church commemorated the 12th anniversary of the canonization of St. Agnes of Bohemia on November 12, 1989. More from Alena Skodova:

St. Agnes of BohemiaSt. Agnes of Bohemia Agnes of Bohemia lived in the 13th century, and I asked Larry Cada of the Czech Bishops' Conference in Prague what were her main merits, why she was canonized, when by birth she was a royal princess?

Mr. Cada told me that several attempts had been made in the past seven centuries to convince the Pope to proclaim Agnes of Bohemia a Saint, but there was no positive response from the Vatican until John Paul II became the pope:
