The popular pig-slaughtering feasts which usually take place in February are going to start early for some pig-breeders this year. Farmers living in the area infested with swine-fever have been ordered to cull their animals in view of a growing risk of the disease spreading from wild boar to pigs in the region.
The Czech National Bank’s move Thursday to raise its key two week repo rates by 0.25 percentage points to 0.5 percent was hardly a surprise and the Czech crown strengthened little as a result. Previous evidence had shown that central bank members had already been on the verge of raising rates at the previous session.
The ride-sharing service Uber is back on the road in Brno after the Supreme Court in Olomouc temporarily overturned a ban on its services in the Czech Republic’s second largest city. This is the second time that such a ban has been invalidated by a higher instance court in a protracted battle between Brno’s taxi drivers and Uber.
