One of the stars of the team is goalkeeper Petr Cech, who - at just 22 years of age - has won a regular place at one of Europe's biggest clubs, Chelsea. Milan Baros on Sunday scored two brilliant goals in three minutes as the Czech Republic beat Denmark 3:0 at the European Football Championships. Baros is now the top scorer in the competition, with five goals in four games. Now he and his Czech team-mates face Greece in the semi-finals on Thursday.  More

Photo: CTK The Czech Republic have extended their unbeaten run to 20 games, with a draw in a friendly against Italy on Wednesday. The Czechs had to come from behind four minutes from full-time, though coach Brueckner says they could have won. With his 91st international appearance Karel Poborsky has set a new Czech caps record. Meanwhile, Pavel Nedved has - surprise, surprise - been named Czech Footballer of the Year. And the Ice Hockey World Championships will, after all, be shown live on Czech Television.  More

Czech ice hockey coach Slavomir Lener says he was pleased with how his team played at the Swedish Games, the last tournament before May's World Championships. Cross country skier Katerina Neumannova has won yet another World Cup event, this time the 10 kilometre free in the French Alps. Athlete Roman Sebrle has started the season in style and Czech footballers made their mark in Europe at the weekend.  More
