The Czech Republic will bring back home state-owned artworks that are on
loan abroad in an effort to avoid their seizure in a protracted arbitration
case. The decision comes after an Austrian court last week upheld the
claims of the Swiss firm Diag Human and seized three modernist artworks
lent to a gallery in Vienna. The Czech Foreign Ministry considers any
seizures of Czech property in breach of international law. More

Current AffairsHead of Czech Centre in The Hague: budget cuts encourage cooperation
The Czech Centre in the Dutch capital The Hague has been promoting all
things Czech since 1994. Last year, more than 60,000 thousand people
approached the centre or took part in one of their events. But the economic
crisis has put the centre in a difficult situation, as the Czech Foreign
Ministry is planning to cut around one third of its budget. Radio Prague
spoke to the head of Czech Centre in The Hague Petra Prinsová and asked her
how they are coping with the current situation.

One of my first ports of call on a recent visit to New York was the
city’s Czech Centre, which is at Madison Avenue and 83rd St in
Manhattan.
At least that’s where it’s located for the moment – later in the
year
it’s moving to the Bohemian National Hall, around 15 minutes walk away.

This Thursday, 14 Czech actors will give public readings of international
works of literature at various places around Prague. The event is
organised by the Czech Centre in Prague, in cooperation with the Museum of
Czech Literature. What makes it unusual is that it will take place in the
evening - from 6pm to 11pm - in the form of a literature marathon. Dita
