and Malt Association. Czech beer has been very much in the news recently,
after a British group called the Campaign for Real Ale or CAMRA warned
that the world-famous Czech brew could be in danger of losing its taste.
CAMRA says the modern production methods used by the big multinational
brewers that control much of the Czech beer industry are threatening the
unique quality of this country's beers - charges that have infuriated
Czech brewers and Czech beer lovers.

If products bear such labels as Parma ham, Emmenthal cheese, Cognac or
Champagne, you know you're buying the real thing, produced only in one
specific area of Europe under strict supervision. Soon a similar label
could be attached to one very special Czech product: Czech brewers have
filed a request with the European Commission to have the "Czech
Beer" brand registered, ruling out the possibility of watery
imitations flooding the market.

only 58 percent in the case of women? A new report on Czech drinking
habits has also found that voters of the center-right Civic Democrats
drink the most beer, but that may be because the party has more male
voters. The study also looks at another very interesting issue - the
importance of pubs in Czech society.
