The next day the younger Gluscevic brother at the club also made his mark by netting two. After winning the latest stage of the Dakar Rally, six-time winner Karel Loprais is currently third overall in the truck category in a Czech-made Tatra. Jiri Novak is in good form ahead of tennis's Australian Open. And will Czech ice hockey fans get to see stars Jagr and Lang in action at the World Championships?  More

Neumannova wins two World Cup, photo: CTK Czech cross-country skier Katerina Neummanova has done it again, winning her second World Cup race in a row, just six months after having a baby. Ilona Hlavackova has been named Czech Swimmer of the Year. There has been a great deal of speculation over whether Czech international football goalkeeper Petr Cech would sign for English glamour club Chelsea. Rene Bolf, meanwhile, is definitely joining Auxerre. And ice hockey goaltender Roman Malek has been let go by Slavia Prague, half a season after helping the club to an historic Extraliga title.  More

Katerina Neumannova, photo: CTK The leading Czech skier Katerina Neummanova has finally received the silver and bronze medals she won at the last Winter Olympics after a Russian who finished ahead of her was found to have taken drugs. Meanwhile, Jiri Raska - who won gold and silver medals at the 1968 Winter Olympics - has been named Czech skier of the century. In football, Sparta Prague go into the winter break some distance behind Ostrava, after being beaten by Jablonec. Czech born tennis legend Martina Navratilova has maintained her incredible 28-year Fed Cup unbeaten record, and a Czech duo have won the World Cycle-ball Championships.  More

Ante Jazic, Jan Koller, Libor Sionko and Richard Hastings, photo: CTK Three Czech football players scored their debut international goals in a 5:1 win over Canada on Saturday that showed the squad's strength in depth. Meanwhile, the country's Under 21s - the reigning European champions - are in a good position to reach their Euro 2004, after beating Switzerland away in the first leg of play-offs. Decathlete Roman Sebrle has once again been named Czech Athlete of the Year, and 17-year-old Jakub Sindel has broken Jaromir Jagr's record to become the youngest player to ever score a hat trick in the domestic ice hockey league.  More
