Letter from PragueThe perils of the Pilsen train stop
For a few months from late July until the nights draw in from September and
force me to change my weekend timetable, I look out of the window with some
suspicion when my Prague-bound train pulls up at Pilsen on Sunday evenings.
The cause of my fear can usually be heard before it appears: returning

Current AffairsSome fans plan boycott of first game of new Czech football league season over ground-share
The new league season in Czech football gets underway after the summer

The Czech Republic’s soccer players failed to qualify for this year’s

on television. But with their own team not there, who will Czechs be
supporting in South Africa? Well, Slovakia has finished top of a poll
asking just that question: that despite the facts the Slovaks perhaps
don’t always cheer for their one-time fellow citizens.
