In football, Czech club Sparta Prague have announced a deal with English
club Newcastle United under which Slovak goalkeeper Martin Dúbravka will
leave on a free transfer to the end of the season.
A decision will then be made about his future. Sparta Prague will get Romanian keeper Florian Nita from Bucharest club FCSB under terms which have not been revealed.
In football, Slavia Prague have announced the appointment of Jindřich Trpišovský as its new manager. Trpišovský, who will replace the previous manager Jaroslav Šilhavý, has been the manager of Slovan Liberec. Under his leadership, the north Bohemian club twice qualified for the preliminary group stage of the Europa League
Slavia Prague’s run in football’s Europa League came to an abrupt end
on Thursday night when they were defeated by Kazakh club Astana in Prague.
Astana scored in the closing minutes of the first half following a mistake by Slavia’s defence and goalkeeper. Slavia has numerous chances to equalise but did not find the back of the net. The final score was 1:0.
