Every Czech football fan remembers Antonin Panenka's decisive penalty kick against Germany to win the 1976 European Championship. Many of these fans also supported the team Panenka played with for many years - Bohemians Football Club, which was one of the top teams in this country in the 1970s and 80s. Unfortunately, like many clubs in the harsh economic climate of the post-communist era, Bohemians went bust in this, their centenary year. But determined fans have - against all odds - saved the club from extinction. More

The collapse of Bohemians football club at the beginning of what would have been its centenary year was a very sad development for the Czech game. The club's bankruptcy was followed by expulsion from the second division, and it appeared we had seen the last of the green and white Kangaroos. But Bohemians' loyal fans aren't giving up so easily, and have launched a campaign to try and revive the club.  More

The 112th Grand Pardubice Steeplechase, photo: CTK The Grand Pardubice steeplechase - the biggest event on the Czech horse-racing calendar - has been won by Maskula. The Czech football team played Moldova in atrocious conditions and managed to bag three points, making an ideal start to their Euro 2004 campaign.
